How the Crowd Calendar Works

Quick answers about the data, the model, and the parks we cover.

Which theme parks does ParkCrowds cover?

Walt Disney World (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios), Disneyland Resort (Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure), Universal Orlando Resort (Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe), and Universal Studios Hollywood. Every park gets the same daily 1–10 crowd levels, ride wait forecasts, and AI assistant.

How are the crowd levels predicted?

We poll publicly available wait time data every five minutes and combine it with weather, school calendars, holidays, and park-specific events. A statistical model trained on more than five years of observations turns that into a 1–10 crowd level for every day of the next twelve months — and a per-ride peak wait forecast for the days you select.

How accurate are the predictions?

Recent measured accuracy averages 5–10 minutes of mean absolute error on park-wide average wait, depending on park and season. We publish the full backtest and bucket-level breakdowns on the About page — most other Disney and Universal crowd calendars don't publish accuracy at all.

Is ParkCrowds free?

Yes. The crowd calendar, ride wait predictions, trip planner, and AI park assistant are all free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and no premium tier.

How is this different from Touring Plans or Thrill Data?

ParkCrowds is built on a transparent, automated pipeline that reruns every day across all four resorts — including Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, which most Disney-focused crowd calendars skip. We publish accuracy openly, surface weather-adjusted ride waits, and pair every prediction with a free AI assistant that knows the data behind the forecast.
